Sold outChecked Jul 27, 2026ITX-Llama Mainboardby ITX-Llama project

Builds a compact x86 computer for late DOS and early Windows 98 with integrated audio, networking, modern storage, and legacy input support.

For this compatible system (exact system): This is the mainboard for the ITX-Llama compatible system. The store requires a separately supplied Vortex86EX SOM and AGP card; optional OPL3, wavetable, and MT32-Pi hardware is also not included. Documentation warns that Batch 1 and Batch 2 boards through Revision F have a gameport fault and an analog-audio mono issue, although Batch 2 audio was to be repaired before shipment. Verify the board revision and repair state.

The official Batch 2 product page reported sold out on 2026-07-27. The public repository provides a build guide and design files. A Vortex86EX SOM and AGP graphics card are required and were sold separately; RetroDreams' exact SOM listing was also sold out.

Build itChecked Jul 27, 2026MT32-Piby Dale Whinham and RetroDreams

Adds low-latency Roland MT-32 emulation and SoundFont synthesis to an ITX-Llama or MIDI-equipped vintage PC.

For this compatible system (exact system): The RetroDreams package connects a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W to the ITX-Llama through its 40-pin GPIO header for MT-32 or General MIDI playback. A DIY equivalent needs a supported Pi, attached header, FAT32 microSD setup, audio path, and user-supplied ROM images for MT-32 synthesis.

The preconfigured RetroDreams package reported Sold out on 2026-07-27. The GPL-3.0 upstream project still provides source, releases, and setup documentation, although its maintainer says further releases are unlikely. Users must supply legally obtained MT-32 or CM-32L ROM images; they are not included in the retail package or upstream download.
