Recreates the circa-1990 AdLib OPL2 FM-synthesis sound card as a buildable open hardware project.

This is a self-assembly reproduction rather than a currently sold assembled card. The repository has no packaged release; use the project files and parts list directly.

Replaces one SID socket with two or three emulated SIDs, or combines SID emulation with SFX Sound Expander-compatible FM synthesis.

The official store showed four ARM2SID variants in stock on 2026-07-28, priced from EUR 53 to EUR 58. Choose the cable, optional second socket, and host-specific version carefully. Additional SID and FM modes require the documented chip-select and audio connections; the optional second socket does not carry EXT IN.

Adds nine channels of OPL2-compatible FM synthesis to a Commodore 64 and can mix SID or other audio into its output.

The project page says all four production batches, totaling 360 cartridges, sold out. Commodore4Ever also showed its product page sold out on 2026-07-28, and Protovision's current music-peripherals category listed only FM-YAM cable accessories. Check the seller pages or used market for a restock.

The official product page reported Sold out on 2026-07-27. Its preorder copy still says that the batch was expected to ship in February 2025; no current restock date is published.

Retro Electronics listed the Version 1.2 bare PCB in stock on 2026-07-25. No components or assembly are included; the obsolete Yamaha sound chips can be harder to source than the common logic and passive parts.

Choose the hardware design and matching firmware together. The official project documents different DAC, PWM, connector, line-output, and host-interface arrangements plus a list of preassembled sellers. Multi-SID or FM modes need the documented address-signal wires. Never power the module from USB and the Commodore computer at the same time.
