Build itChecked Jul 30, 2026PET-N Mechanical Keyboard Projectby Andre Fachat

Provides source files for a Cherry-compatible Commodore PET N-type keyboard with printable supports and keycaps.

The repository was actively updated in June 2026 and supplies PCB, firmware, support, test, and keycap files. It is an advanced source build rather than a complete retail kit. The maker built it principally for the Micro-PET and Ulti-PET family and explicitly says installation in an original PET is possible in principle but untested.

Provides a Cherry MX replacement-keyboard PCB for a graphics-keyboard Commodore PET or Tynemouth Mini PET.

TexElec listed the bare PCB set in stock for USD 27.99 on 2026-07-30. Switches, keycaps, electronic parts, cable, support structure, insulation, and the custom mounting work required by an original PET are not included. The optional Shift Lock circuit needs a safe 5 V connection inside the PET.

Replaces an Apple II or II Plus keyboard and can also provide ASCII keyboard input for an Apple-1 or Replica 1.

The ReActiveMicro page exposed assembled and kit selectors plus an Add to cart control on 2026-07-27, while also rendering a stock-notification control; confirm the chosen variant before ordering. The kit requires extensive through-hole soldering. Encoder connector placement and keymap jumpers differ by host. Project notes also document Revision 4.2 encoder diode-jumper errata.
