The kit requires through-hole assembly, display wiring, and internal drive installation; stacked boards or sockets can create clearance problems.

The standard and 6522-included variants were both out of stock on 2026-07-24. The 1541-II and 1571 require the special version with a 6522 VIA soldered to the tracker board; the standard version will not work in those drives. Installation can require desoldering the original VIA, fitting a socket, and mounting the display and button externally.
