A LocalTalk-equipped vintage Mac running System 3.3 or later needs no additional classic-side software, but the modern host still needs TailTalk setup and the correct crossover cable or LocalTalk adapter. JCM showed 181 assembled units in stock on 2026-07-24. A standard Macintosh crossover serial cable or a LocalTalk dongle is still required; a straight-through serial cable will not work.
