Adds a driverless 32 MHz 68030 accelerator to a Macintosh Color Classic or LC II processor-direct slot.

The current product page explicitly said Out of Stock on 2026-07-24. Its mid-February 2025 next-batch note is stale.

Accelerates an Apple IIe to as much as 16.6 MHz and adds fast auxiliary and Slinky memory.

The product page offered an Add to Cart path on 2026-07-24. Software with cycle-sensitive timing may need the speed reduced; confirm processor, memory configuration, and slot use before ordering.

Build itChecked Jul 25, 2026PET816 Acceleratorby Andre Fachat

Replaces a socketed 6502 with a W65816 running at up to 10 MHz, backed by fast RAM and programmable flash ROM.

The project publishes Eagle board and schematic files, VHDL and CPLD binaries, test software, and GPLv2-licensed documentation, but no current assembled seller was verified. Revision 1.2b is marked 'ok'; older revisions are prototypes. Building it depends on older Xilinx ISE-era tooling or a compatible programming path, two programmed flash devices, and a socketed host CPU. The author's 10 MHz timing uses 55 ns SRAM outside its rated access time; his burn-in test passed, but builders should not treat that result as a component guarantee.

DiscontinuedChecked Jul 27, 2026Rapidus 65C816 Acceleratorby Sebastian "Candle" Bartkowicz / Lotharek

Replaces the Atari 8-bit CPU with a 20 MHz WDC 65C816 accelerator backed by fast SRAM, SDRAM, flash, and software-selectable modes.

Both Lotharek hardware packages are discontinued. The 800XL package includes two Adaptus boards and requires CPU and OS ROM removal, socket work, a correctly oriented ribbon cable, and EXTSEL, MPD, and ground connections that differ between Freddie and non-Freddie boards. Its page says replacing DRAM with the separate SRAM module is mandatory and records additional O2 timing workarounds for Ultimate 1MB. The XE package may need four or five precision sockets to clear the cartridge slot. The official Rapidus PDF remains unavailable to automated extraction under WF-001, so obtain complete documentation before installing a used board.

AvailableChecked Jul 27, 2026Synchr030/Sby YMK Devices

PDS memory accelerator that replaces Macintosh SE/30 SIMMs with 256 MB of SDRAM and provides an unbuffered PDS pass-through.

The Tindie page reported four assembled cards in stock at $297 on 2026-07-27. Its United States shipping section simultaneously showed a free rate and said the item did not ship there, so confirm destination availability at checkout. The current Rev B manual covers firmware v0.8.0. It warns against using the older v0.5.4 extension with address translation, documents a ROM-shadowing bypass for timing-sensitive accelerator functions, and says Apple Personal Diagnostics memory tests can hang or corrupt memory near completion. A cache-slot accelerator must never be inserted directly into the SE/30 PDS or the Synchr pass-through; use the correct SE/30 adapter. Three-card stacks discussed by the community remained untested.

Build itChecked Jul 24, 2026Tokamac LC / Sonnet Presto 040 Recreationby Bolle

Recreates a 25 MHz 68040 accelerator for the Macintosh LC, LC II, and Color Classic.

This is a noncommercial self-build project with no assembled purchase path. The XC1736 configuration PROM at U15 must be programmed with reset polarity set high, and the complete build requires an XC3030 FPGA plus the listed 68040 and support parts.
